About Lakeshore Asset Recovery LLC

Built on accountability, not hype. Lakeshore Asset Recovery exists to do this work the right way — with the rigor of a financial professional and the honesty Illinois families deserve. Below: who we are, how to confirm you're dealing with us, and how we get paid.

Our Story

Why I started Lakeshore

I spent years as an auditor with the IRS and as an accounting professional, where my entire job was getting the numbers right and following processes that most people find intimidating. Over that time I saw, again and again, how ordinary people lose track of money that's rightfully theirs — simply because the system is confusing and no one is looking out for them.

Foreclosure surplus funds are one of the clearest examples. After losing a home — often during the hardest stretch of someone's life — people walk away assuming there's nothing left. In reality, the property may have sold for thousands more than was owed, and that money is legally theirs. It just sits in a court account, waiting, while the clock runs.

I founded Lakeshore Asset Recovery to close that gap, using the same diligence I brought to government audits: meticulous documentation, clear communication, and zero tolerance for the shady tactics that give this industry a bad name. I'm currently pursuing my CPA license to continue raising that standard.

How to confirm you're dealing with Lakeshore Asset Recovery

If we called or wrote to you, check us the same way you would check any company. These are the only identifiers we use:

What we will never do

Not the same company as other “Lakeshore” or “Lake Shore” businesses

Several unrelated businesses in Illinois and in other states use a similar name, and a search for “Lakeshore Asset Recovery reviews” mixes them together. Lakeshore Asset Recovery LLC of Chicago is not affiliated with any of them. If what you are looking at shows a different address, phone number, or website than the ones above, it is a different business.

Reviews and references

We are a young firm and would rather earn trust than claim it. We do not publish testimonials we cannot verify, and we never ask a client for a review before their money is in hand. When public reviews exist they will appear on our Google Business Profile, which we will link here once it is live. In the meantime, the fastest way to judge us is to ask the questions in our guide to choosing a surplus funds recovery company in Illinois and see whether our answers hold up.

Not sure a call or letter came from us? Run the six free checks, download the one-page Verify-the-Call checklist (PDF), or call 773-270-9629 and ask for the case number we have on file.

Frequently asked questions

Lakeshore Asset Recovery LLC is a private asset-recovery service in Chicago that helps former Illinois homeowners and heirs recover court-held foreclosure surplus and tax-sale surplus equity on a contingency basis. We are not a law firm and not a government agency. Rather than take our word for it, verify us the way you would any company: call 773-270-9629, make sure any letter or email uses lakeshoreassetrecovery.com, look up your own case at the Clerk of the Circuit Court, and read the written agreement before you sign. You can also file a claim yourself.

No. Lakeshore Asset Recovery LLC (10 S. Riverside Plaza, Suite 875, Chicago, IL 60606; 773-270-9629; lakeshoreassetrecovery.com) is not affiliated with any other business using a similar name in Illinois or in other states. Match the address, phone number, and website before you rely on anything you read about “Lakeshore.”

We do not publish testimonials we cannot verify, and we never ask a client for a review before their recovery has been paid. Public reviews, when they exist, will be on our Google Business Profile. Until then, judge us by our answers: ask for the fee percentage in writing, ask who disburses the funds (the court does), and ask whether you can do it yourself (you can).

No. There is no upfront cost. Our fee is a percentage of the surplus actually recovered, stated in a written agreement you sign before any work begins, and it is paid out of the recovery when the court disburses the funds. If nothing is recovered, you owe nothing.
